THE HISTORY OF THE FARM STAY IL PORTONE, BORGO SAN MARTINO

Its origin

Inside Majella National Park, in the small village of Abbateggio, in the Borgo San Martino, there was a group of houses, inhabited by some families, obliged to emigrate afterwards, because of lack of employment, becoming then derelict for such reason.

The realization of a dream

These dwellings stood empty for about sixty years, until when, one day, Giancarlo and Donatella decided with passion, courage and determination to renovate them, to let them come back to life as farm stay, presenting its wonderful views to guests, coming from all over the world.

In 2009, they have realized their dream, opening the farm stay and both of them still continue to present its beauties and great charm together with its verdant surrounding areas.

Today

The farm stay has 6 rooms, 2 suites and 1 apartment. It also includes a farm with 40 hectares of land, where crops are raised biologically, such as cereals and vegetables, and together with home-grown meat, fresh eggs collected daily and cold pressed olives are the main ingredients of meals served in the farm stay.

All these elements, the healthy air of the mountain, love for nature and for animals that characterize the philosophy of the farm stay owners, make this place an heaven of peace and quiet.
